"Multicultural" by Malone

I am honestly not sure why Malone chose to write this or why our Professor included it in our library reading list. I found nothing new that was interesting or profound about library history or ethnicity. This article was essentially a longer bibliography for someone who wants to read about ethnicity and the libraries, but that is something that already exists in many good books about this subject matter. The end part of the article did voice some opinion about the future of library history, but it is nothing more than the tired old phrases of multiculturalism and all the other catch phrases of a more modern and even liberal hope for the future of libraries. Did the author think she was saying something new when she recommended more research in library history? My god, that is the same argument that historians will always be making because a) it is true and b) it’s a self-preservation tactic. If all the research has been done on library history, a whole legion of people would be out of jobs and would have to conduct research on something else. Of course, history is always changing based on how people interpret the past, and unfortunately this author did not really contribute any new interpretations in this article. Overall I found it dull and unnecessary.
